Pteranodon skeleton now on display at VMNH
Visitors to the Virginia Museum of Natural History are now greeted by the museum's newest resident, a skeleton of a Pteranodon suspended from the towering ceiling of the museum's Harvest Foundation Great Hall. |

VMNH appoints Dr. Lauck Ward as first curator emeritus
Dr. Lauck "Buck" Ward has been appointed by the Virginia Museum of Natural History as its first curator emeritus. Ward recently retired from the museum after having served as curator of invertebrate paleontology for 19 years. |

Visitors to VMNH now have the opportunity to view effigies - figural representations of gods, rulers, important mythical figures, animals, or just individuals - carved over 1,400 years ago. |

Museum closed Sundays, Mondays, and all state holidays
As part of recent Commonwealth of Virginia budget cuts, the Museum is closed to the public on Sundays and Mondays, as well as all state holidays. The Museum will close at noon on November 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday, and will be closed November 27 and 28.
