THE
UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA’S new Clinical Cancer
Center (rendering shown at left) is one step
closer to becoming reality after the Board of
Visitors’ Buildings
and Grounds Committee approved the schematic
design at a meeting on July 27. University architect
David J. Neuman outlined details of the 118,000-square-foot
facility, planned for the Jefferson Park Avenue
and Lee Street intersection, that will incorporate
several existing cancer clinics in one site;
enhance the layout and amenities of the clinics;
and allow for new therapeutic equipment. The
center will also integrate
several sustainable elements, including a roof
garden
that would
support healing
for patients. Full
story.
