Pavilion Residents 1895-1995

True to their original purpose, the Pavilions still serve as homes for faculty and their families. Although two of these structures are today dedicated to other uses: Pavilion VIII features classrooms and the University Guides office, and Pavilion VII is the faculty's Colonnade Club; the remaining eight provide private housing that preserves the original architecture while allowing for each professor's personal use. Like the award of a Lawn room, the invitation to reside in a Pavilion is considered an honor, bestowed on professors whose distinguished service to the University generally includes not only academic work but administrative duties as well.
