Funding Opportunities
With funds provided by the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Institute sponsors several award programs to stimulate teaching and research in aging:
The Pilot Research Program - offers seed money grants up to $25,000 for new, innovative projects by faculty investigators.
The Community-Based Research Grant Program - offers grants of $5,000 to support collaborative, community-based research projects. This program is jointly conducted by the Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA).
Interdisciplinary Working Groups – funds are available to support faculty who wish to explore the possibility for forming collaborative teams. Funds can be used for meeting expenses, meals, speakers and consultants. Contact the Director at uvaging@virginia.edu for further details.
Course Development - awards of $20,000 are available for summer salary, teaching assistants, and purchase of materials.
