Community Based Research Forum
John Paul Jones Arena Sandridge Hall, Charlottesville
This event will showcase the work of the University of Virginia and the Jefferson Area Board for Aging to promote joint scholarship between faculty and professionals at governmental agencies and service associations. Our goal is to bring together the knowledge, wisdom and experience of academic and community leaders to jointly solve the critical health, social and economic challenges facing our aging population.
The forum will feature:
• Presentations on the newest projects including EcoMOD, an award-winning program for affordable and sustainable housing, the Community Food System Program to bring locally-grown foods to area seniors, and enhancement of psychological well-being through understanding of anxiety disorders;
• Keynote address by Thomas Skalak, Vice President for Research, University of Virginia;
• Poster session featuring leading-edge research in aging, including aging assistive technologies and senior driving safety;
• Networking reception (from 3:00 - 4:00 pm) to encourage new partnerships and approaches.
