Saint Augustine's Bridge program participant returns for her second summer undergraduate research program in Nanotechnology

Toshiba Mercer, a Peer Teacher in the Bridge program at Saint Augustine's College, participated in the University of Massachusetts' Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) in Nanoscale Science and Engineering for the second time in 2009. SURE offers ten weeks of cutting-edge research projects with faculty members and graduate student labmates. Toshiba's project was entitled The Adsorption of Lysozyme by Polyacrylamide Gel (Lysozyme is known as the primary protein found in the eye). Toshiba writes that this program offered much information about expanding opportunities in Nanotechnology.

Toshiba is a senior in the Department of Biological and Physical Sciences at Saint Augustine's College.
