ECSU Students Charter

VA-NC LSAMP Club at ECSU

Friday, Dec. 12. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas — especially at ECSU where 50+ level one and level two VA-NC LSAMP students along with many of their dedicated faculty and staff supporters gathered in the New Student Center December 4th for their annual holiday celebration. While listening to Festive music and munching on their holiday favorites the students unveiled the constitution for the newest club on the ECSU Campus, The ECSU AMP Club. Students elected officers to include their first president Mr. Ryan Winder. Congratulations to Mr. Winder, a freshman biology major and all of the new AMP Club Officers. 35 students committed to membership. The purpose of The ECSU AMP Club is to foster leadership development through the coordination of educational and awareness projects. Membership in AMP CLUB is open to any interested undergraduate students at Elizabeth City State University. To be eligible for membership, students must be African American, Hispanic, or Native American US citizens without regard to religion, disability, age, veteran status, sexual orientation or gender. Members of the ECSU AMP Club are required to be enrolled at ECSU and pursuing undergraduate degrees in the fields of Mathematics, Science, Technology and Engineering. ECSU graduate students and ECSU faculty/administrators may join the club as "Associate Members." Associate members may not run for office and do not have voting rights. To assist the clubs successful launch, Mr. Warren Poole and Ms. Pamela Bingham donated initial club membership fees for the first 10 students. -- Jacqueline Poole
