Regional focus: U.S. Southwest / Mexican Northwest.

Topical interests: Cosmology and social organization, hierarchy, non-state societies, symbolic analysis.

I received my B.A. from the University of Arizona, and have worked in several sub-regions in the U.S. Southwest/Mexican Northwest. I am specifically interested in northwest Chihuahua, Mexico. This area has become a microcosm for many larger debates within the archaeology of the U.S. Southwest/Mexican Northwest. In my research, I examine the intersection of cosmology and social organization at the site of Paquimé, to assess the nature of hierarchy and social differentiation in non-state societies. In addition, I am interested in exploring new ways to understand meaning in the archaeological record through symbolic and spatial analyses. My other interests include prehistoric production (specialization) and exchange.

MA Paper: Shades of Blue and Gray: Spheres of Exchange in Chaco Canyon A.D. 900-1100.
