Socio-Cultural Anthropology Regional focus: Belize Topical interests: Agricultural, Environmental Anthropology, Economic Anthropology, Fair Trade, Development. My research concerns small-scale Mopan Maya farmers in the Toledo District of Belize. Specifically, I focus on the environmental and ecological changes that have occurred among cacao growers over the past 30 years as cacao has been transformed from a locally used household and ceremonial crop to one that has been commercialized for the world market through various local, national and international developmental schemes. I received my MA in Anthropology from Florida State University in 2005
and my BA in Anthropology from the University of Central Florida in 2003. | |
