Extending Our Architectural Legacy
The University of Virginia has a rich architectural and landscape
architectural heritage. Following Jefferson's masterful academical
village, succeeding generations have expanded and enriched the fabric
of the University Grounds. This physical legacy should be carefully
maintained and carried forward into future planning for the University
using the following guidelines:
|
|
Conserve older buildings and landscapes |
| |
Consolidate
new development within existing boundaries |
| |
Apply principles of the Academical Village to new development |
