Lee Cochran served as a member of the University's Board
of Visitors from 1982 until 1990, and as chair of the
Building and Grounds Committee. She is a member and former
chairman of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation Board
of Trustees and served as President of the Garden Club
of Virginia from 1972-1974. |

In 1995, she received the Hollins College Medal as a distinguished
alumna. In 1998, she received the Architecture Medal for Virginia
Service, an award given annually to an outstanding citizen by
the Virginia Society of the American Institute of Architects,
in recognition of her years of leadership in historic preservation
of architecture and gardens throughout Virginia. She has served
on the Jeffersonian Restoration Advisory Committee and is a
member of the Jeffersonian Restoration Design Committee. She
was the founding chair of the Jefferson's Circle, an annual
giving group dedicated to funding historic preservation projects
within the Academical Village. |
