Ernie Ern has taught at the University of Virginia for
38 years as a professor of environmental sciences. In
addition to this lengthy period of teaching, Ernie Ern
has been involved in the University in a number of ways.
From 1967 to 1973, he served as Dean of Admissions. From
1975 to 1993, he served as Senior Vice President for Student
Affairs. Ernie Ern played a pivotal role in minority affairs
at the University. He was a member of the 1970 Blue Ribbon
Committee that planned for the Admission of women and
he established the Minority Affairs Office in 1976. |
