Andrew Ruppel is Professor Emeritus at the University of Virginia. He joined its McIntire School of Commerce in 1971 after receiving his PhD from the University of North Carolina. He has served with the US Army, NASA, and the International Atomic Energy Agency. At McIntire, he taught courses in operations management and statistics.

Ruppel has held numerous school and university committee and administrative positions, including building committee chair for the Monroe Hall Addition and for Newcomb Plaza. As a member of the Colonnade Club's Board of Governors, he participated in the reactivation of Hotel E's dining operation. He served on the Arboretum & Landscape Committee for over a dozen years, and has remained actively involved in School of Commerce building activities since his retirement.
