Pavilion I

Pavilion I adjoins the Rotunda steps on the Lawn's west side. Completed in 1822, it was the fifth pavilion built. Its four plastered white-painted columns are topped by Doric capitals that were made in Charlottesville.

Pavilion I has center doorways on the first and second floors, and a center chimney. Jefferson designed the Chinese trellis railings on the second floor.
