I.D. Cards available for new grad students August 3 - 21, Student Activities Building, Alderman Road

TA WORKSHOP: August 22 and 23.

All TAs are required to attend the teaching workshop organized by the Teaching Resource Center.

GRADERS

Undergraduate courses with 50 or more registered students will have a grader. Graduate students interested in grading should attend the first meeting of the course that interests them and speak to the instructor. Requests for graders should be made by both faculty and students to the Graduate Director. Students will be informed of the selection in the second week of the semester. Duties of Graders.

ADVISING For incoming Students August 24.

Douglas Fordham will be advising on course selection in Fayerweather Hall 308. Pleaseset up and appointment if you have not already done so.

OUTSIDE FELLOWSHIPS: September 3

Students who wish to apply for Kress, CASVA or any other outside fellowships should discuss their plans with their advisor(s) and send the Graduate Director an application. Students applying for grants should note that the University deadline for Fulbright applications is usually late September.

LANGUAGE EXAMS: September 7.

Prof. Barolsky will be administering language exams.

PHD FIELD EXAM

Any student who expects to take the field exam for the Ph.D. in fall or spring term should discuss the matter with their advisor and inform the Graduate Director of their intention with a probable date for the exam.

Graduate Committee Deadline September 14.


PhD Field and Dissertation Proposals due for consideration by the Graduate Committee.
Please submit Proposals to the DGS digitally. Proposals must have been approved by your Dissertation Advisor.

October

DEGREE CANDIDATES FOR DECEMBER GRADUATION

All students who intend to receive their degree in December must be registered for the Fall Semester. Non-Residents must be registered by October 1.

ADVISING

CAA DISSERTATION LISTING: November 15.

Students who have had their dissertation proposals formally accepted and approved may register the title of the dissertation with the College Art Association. In the past dissertations have been listed in the June issue of the Art Bulletin. Dissertations will be posted on the CAA website in late June.

CAA ANNUAL CONFERENCE: February 13-16

Will meet in New York, February 13-16, 2013.

March

DEPARTMENT FINANCIAL AID: March 2

Requests for financial aid from both University and departmental resources are due by March 15.

APPLICATION FOR LINDNER SUMMER FUNDING: MARCH 15

Students should email the Director of Graduate Studies a one-page request for summer support with a brief budget and description of your educational goals

PROCEED TO PH.D: March 15

Second-year students who wish to proceed to the Ph.D. must write a letter to the Graduate Director requesting to be admitted to the Ph.D. program and name their dissertation advisor by March 15.

DEADLINES for MA and PhD students graduating in May 2012

Unsigned MA thesis or PhD dissertation title page to GSAS by April 2
Turn in all copies of MA thesis to departmental office with names of committee by April 13
MA thesis defenses should be scheduled April 18-27
