Ms. Miller’s research focuses on interactions between literature, art, and art history in Russian culture, with a particular emphasis on Russian modernism. Her publications include essays on Russian and Czech poetry and translations of Russian art historical criticism. She is currently working on a manuscript entitled Painting and the Poetry of Anna Akhmatova. With Margarita Nafpaktitis, she organized and curated the exhibit, “The Firebird and the Factory: Modern Russian Children’s Books,” Harrison Institute and Small Special Collections Library, The University of Virginia (November 6, 2006 – April 9, 2007). The exhibit catalog was published by the U.Va. Library in 2007.

In 2006, she participated in the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute, “Visual Resources for Teaching and Research in Early East Slavic Cultures,” hosted by the New York Public Library’s Slavic and Baltic Division. She has also been awarded fellowships by the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR), the ACTR/ACCELS Title VIII Research Scholar Program, and the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program. She has studied in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia; Prague, Czech Republic; and Krakow, Poland.

In 2006, Ms. Miller was appointed Executive Assistant to the Deputy University Librarian and Research Associate for the Scholarly Communication Institute. Her work in the library is focused on administration, scholarly communication, collaborative models for scholarship, and long-range library planning.

She teaches courses on Russian literature, culture, and art in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures and McIntire Department of Art. Previously, she taught at Dickinson College, where she served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Russian in 2003-2004, and the University of Michigan, where she served as the Coordinator of the Russian program in 2002-2003.
