Admission

Admission into the Studio Art program is open to any University of Virginia student accepted into the College of Arts and Sciences. A portfolio is not required when students apply to U.Va. However, if you wish to have your portfolio considered, you may send a portfolio of your work to the Admission Office. Do not send your portfolios to the Art Department. The studio art department requests that only students interested in the arts scholars program submit portfolios to admissions. Please click here to visit the Admissions Office website for important instructions and deadlines to submit an arts supplement. Please note that the supplement deadline is earlier than the admission application deadline. For questions concerning deadlines, requirements, and all information about admission to the University of Virginia, please contact the Undergraduate Admission Office, 434-982-3200.

Please write your name on the CD or the back of each print (no sticky labels on CDs please). Video files should be submitted on an authored DVD (with menu) that is playable on a standard DVD player. We will look at 5 minutes of video. If you have longer video pieces, please send only excerpts. Please note that portfolios that are not formatted to the above specifications may not be reviewed.
