The 1" Belt / 8" Disc Sander is used for surface or edge sanding on nonmetallic materials ONLY. This machine can be used for light shaping. The (hand-held) Belt Sander, 1/4 Sheet Sander, 7" Disc Sander are handheld counterparts to the Belt/Disc Sander, and are primarily used when the material is too large to handle. The 6" Belt / 12" Disc Sander is a larger, more powerful version of this sander

• DO NOT operate while under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication
• DO NOT EVER SAND ANY METAL ON THIS SANDER. You must use the appropriate grinder from the metal shop
• MAKE SURE the workpiece does not have and protruding nails, staples, screws, etc. This can damage the sanding belts or discs or sparks may start a fire
• SECURE any loose fitting jewelry or clothing, tie back long hair - they can get caught in moving parts
• DO NOT wear gloves when using this machine
• TURN ON the dust collector attached to this machine when sanding
• WEAR A DUST MASK when doing lots of sanding or when working with pressure treated lumber
• ALWAYS BE AWARE of where your fingers are in relation to the sand paper
• DO NOT REMOVE jammed wood while sander is on. Turn off power, and wait until machine has stopped
• DO NOT ADJUST tables while machine is turned on
• USE THE MITER GAUGE DESIGNED FOR THIS MACHINE
• DO NOT put excessive pressure on the sanding belt or disc causing the motor to slow down or stall
• DO NOT USE the right hand side of table on the disc sander. The material can fly up and hit you
• TURN OFF machine if you need to step away for a moment
• BE AWARE that both the disc and belt run at the same time
• DO NOT USE sander if the belt or disc is cut or torn
• ALWAYS work from the front side of the sander

OTHER THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN USING THIS MACHINE:

• DO NOT EVER SAND ANY METAL ON THIS SANDER
• TURN ON THE DUST COLLECTOR ATTACHED TO THIS MACHINE
• The disc rotates counter clockwise, so always work on the left side of the disc sander (see photo above)
• The belt moves downward toward table
• The grit on the sandpaper is not very coarse, so be patient when sanding on this machine
• Sand with the grain for best results
• Be sure table locking knobs are tightened before sanding (and they are at desired angle)
• Both the belt and disc are capable of tilting to 45º to make miters
• Using the miter gauge, you can make compound miters
• This tools operates at a much slower RPM than the 6" Belt / 12" Disc Sander, which will allow the user to work with much smaller pieces of material, but PINCHING OF FINGERS OR WORKPIECE CAN STILL OCCUR
• Make sure work area is clean when you are done
