About the Visual Resources Collection
The collection serves the faculty and students of the McIntire Department of Art and the Department of Architectural History in the Architecture School.
The collection includes approximately 275,000 35mm slides and 9,000 digital images.
ARTemis, the Visual Resources Collection’s online cataloging database, contains approximately 55,000 image/slide records. The catalog is available online for searching purposes.
ARTemis is equipped with ARTGUS, which provides dual-digital slide projection for use in classrooms, and allows for the creation of course websites that pull from the Visual Resources Collection’s digital image collection.
ARTemis (1999), a product of a Teaching and Technology Initiative (TTI) fellowship, was created by a team of professionals comprised of faculty and staff from the McIntire Department of Art and the University of Virginia Instructional Technology Group.
