Competition Rules

1) Use Microsoft Word to submit your Entry and be sure to save it. This is important if you are a winner as you will be asked to submit your entry via email.

2) Do not type your name on the page with the poem or prose as to insure the judges’ impartiality.

3) Fill in the entry form and staple it to one copy of the submission.

    For Grades 3-8:   submit 4 copies of the submission

    For Grades 9- Adult: submit 2 copies of the submission

4) On each page of the submission, include the title of the poem or

prose and the name of the artwork and artist. 

5) Mail or Deliver to :

Museum hours: 1-5:00PM, Tuesday-Sunday

Entries must be received by November 18, 2005, at 5:00PM.

Applications taken from the web should get stamped at the Art Museum Front Desk to show that the writer has seen the work.

PRIZES

The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention winners will be notified by mail during the second week of December and invited to the award ceremony. A one-year Membership at the University of Virginia

Art Museum is awarded to the 1-3 place winners. Monetary awards are:  
1st Place Adult, University and High School    $100
1st Place Elementary & Middle School             $ 50
2nd Place [all]                                             $ 25 gift certificate

PLEASE NOTE:

    Failure to comply with these rules may disqualify your entry.

    The Writer’s Eye reserves the right to eliminate a category if entries are insufficient in number or quality.
