Increasing access to the collections
Object study
The Museum's collection is available to enhance and support the curriculum of University courses from all departments. U.Va. Faculty may reserve the Iron Gate Study Gallery for seminars and to make works available from the collection for research, class papers and exams. Faculty who are familiar with the Museum's collection may request specific objects from the collection. If you are unfamiliar with the Museum's collection, our curatorial staff will assist you with selections which will complement your course syllabus. To reserve the Iron Gate Study Gallery, please email Nicole Anastasi or call 434.982.2595.
ARTstor
In collaboration with the McIntire Department of Art Visual Resources Collection and the Fiske-Kimball Fine Arts Library, the Museum has been digitizing its collections for online teaching and research through ARTstor Images for Education & Scholarship. Images and descriptions of the collections include: Old Master prints, American and European paintings and sculpture, and modern prints, as well as African, Asian, and Native American art.
U.Va. faculty, students, and staff may access images and descriptions of the collections through ARTstor Digital LIbrary from U.Va. IP addresses or by first connecting to UVA Anywhere if off-grounds. To open an ARTstor window click the link. Then to enter the ARTstor Digital Library click "Go" and under "Institutional Collections" select "University of Virginia Art Museum."
