Selections from the
African Collection
The Museum's collection of African traditional art started growing in the late 1970s thanks to the generosity of collectors associated with the Hollywood film industry and University alumni who served at embassies in sub-Saharan Africa. The strength of the Museum's collection of over 600 objects consists mainly of traditional masks and figural sculpture from West and Central Africa.
