The Museum's Ancient Mediterranean collection includes objects of Greek, Etruscan, South Italian, and Cypriot origin. The focus of the collection is decorated pottery and terracotta figurines with examples in both the red and black-figure style. Of particular note is the Athenian black-figure krater (wine mixing-bowl) depicting a battle on one side and a wedding on the other. This exquisite piece once belonged to the distinguished Castle Ashby collection in England.
