UVaM - University of Virginia Art Museum

Education

The Fralin is dedicated to providing opportunities for all members of our communities to study and learn from the direct experience of works of art. As an essential component of this mission, educational programming at the Museum is designed to reach the broadest possible audience. Special tours, workshops, talks and lectures, and family programs offer exciting opportunities for everyone.

Among our most celebrated programs for children and families are Writer's Eye, a long-standing creative writing competition, and Family Art JAMs, which provide age-appropriate opportunities for children to experience current exhibitions. Newer but equally lauded community tour programs include Eyes on Art, our partnership with the Arts Fusion Program of the Central and Western Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, and a program with the Virginia Institute of Autism (VIA) for children with autism.

For all members of our community, Saturday Special Tours and Lunchtime Talks offer unique insight into the Museum's collections and current exhibitions. Our annual lectures and academic symposia bring leading scholars to Charlottesville, often in conjunction with special exhibitions.
