U.Va. student opportunities

The Museum invites University students to explore the Museum and its collections through the student docent program, internships, and volunteer opportunities.

Student Docents


The Fralin student docents are trained in a variety of museum education techniques, including the inquiry method. After a completing the required Docent Training Course, they lead tours for school groups and community organizations, assist with the annual Writer's Eye competition, and contribute to the Museum’s mission by fostering an appreciation for art in visitors of all ages.

Docent Training Course


The application for the spring 2015 Docent Training Course is available online now. Check out the Student Docent Program page for information about The Fralin Student Docents. If you are interested in joining the program, visit the link below to learn more and submit an application. Please note that applications to the spring training course will not be considered until much later in the fall semester, so you may not receive an immediate response to your submission.

Internships


The Museum is pleased to offer internships through UIP (University Internship Programs) and the Global Development Studies program, both of which offer academic credit. Graduate students are encouraged to apply for the Luzak-Lindner Graduate Fellowship.
