Docent-led group tours
Interactive tours of our special exhibitions and permanent collection galleries are offered by University student and community docents trained in the inquiry method of museum education. These tours are designed to increase visual literacy and art appreciation. They can also be planned to reflect subjects addressed in the classroom, or the specific interests of the visitors.
Families explore a special exhibition or work of art with a studio instructor and then create art related to what they see and learn. These hands-on activities are for young artists, ages 4-12, and their families/caregivers.
The University of Virginia Art Museum exhibits art from around the world dating from ancient times to the present. In addition to its permanent collection, the Museum offers changing exhibitions, accompanied by related programs and publications.
Reproduction, including downloading of Albers, Davis, Frost, Shapiro, and Warhol works is prohibited by copyright laws and international conventions without the express written permission of Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York.
