Today, the Museum counts as its treasures not only the 10,500 works of art in its collection ranging from ancient artifacts to contemporary art, but also the more than 25,000 visitors who come to the Museum each year to deepen their understanding of art history and world cultures.

Membership has its benefits at the University of Virginia Art Museum

The Museum serves as the art museum for the University of Virginia, a federally non-profit educational institution, as well as for the residents and visitors to Charlottesville and its surrounding counties.

The mission of the Museum is to create an environment in which our diverse constituencies can study and learn from the direct experience of works of art and to promote visual literacy. Our programs are developed to enhance visitors’ perceptions and understanding of world cultures throughout history. The generosity of our members helps support our mission, allowing us to present our collections, special exhibitions, and educational programs. Members take pride in their role in assuring that the Museum meets the highest professional standards and fulfills its role as an academic and community resource. Therefore your support for the Membership Program will greatly enhance our abilities to continue to provide the best in fine arts education for our area and beyond.

Annual Fund

The Annual Fund enhances and builds on the quality and breadth of Museum offerings using unrestricted, completely tax-deductible donations. Annual Fund gifts are put to use immediately in areas where the need is the greatest.

Your gift to the Annual Fund is an investment in an institution with a tradition of promoting excellence and access to the fine arts for all. Your gift will help enrich the cultural life of our community by providing dollars for immediate needs, such as educational programs, conservation, publications and exhibition sponsorships. As always, your support at any level is greatly appreciated.

Monthly Installment Program

This program automatically deducts a pre-selected dollar amount each month from your checking or savings account and transfers it to the Museum as payment for your yearly membership dues! This eliminates costs the Museum otherwise would expend on membership renewals, postage, and time. It can also substantially increase your gift and put it to use faster. This program is monitored by federal agencies and your designated gift amount is all that will be transferred to the Museum.

Gift Memberships

Gift Memberships to the Museum are available at any level and offer the full range of benefits. They are the perfect gift for any occasion and never have to be exchanged!

Matching Gifts

If your company has a matching gift program, your gift to the University of Virginia Art Museum may be doubled or even tripled! In some cases a spouse's company will also match your gift.

Forms are usually available from your company's human resources or personnel department. Just complete your portion of the form and send it to UVA Art Museum, P.O. Box 400119, Charlottesville, VA 22904-4119.

Making a Gift of Stock

If you have stock that has appreciated greatly in value, you may want to consider giving securities as a gift to the Museum. Not only can you receive a charitable tax deduction of your gift, but you also save on capital gains taxes if you've held the stock for more than a year. Just inform your broker of your intention to make a gift and have him or her give contact us.
