Internships
The Fralin is pleased to offer internships through UIP (University Internship Programs) and the Global Development Studies program, both of which offer academic credit. The Fralin's curatorial department also offers internships. Graduate students are encouraged to apply for the Luzak-Lindner Graduate Fellowship.
The Fralin student docents are trained in a variety of museum education techniques, including the inquiry method. After a completing the required Docent Training Course, they lead tours for school groups and community organizations, assist with the annual Writer's Eye competition, and help to coordinate Early Visions, a collaborative arts mentoring program with the Boys and Girls Club.
Interested students are encouraged to apply. The application and selection process takes place in the spring of each academic year, and the training course coincides with the beginning of the fall academic semester.
The fall 2012 Docent Training Course will be held on Wednesdays, 2-5 pm, September 12 - November 14. The application deadline is Monday, March 26, 2012.
The McIntire Department of Music is a liberal arts music department serving the University of Virginia, the local and national communities through creative work, scholarship and performance. We rely on the enthusiastic support of our students, volunteers and interns to help us present over 100 music events each year.
Our interns are quick-thinking, motivated, organized, imaginative, patient, and polite. They have good communication skills, a sense of humor, and work well both independently and in groups. Knowledge of music is always helpful. If this descripiton fits you please consider applying for one of our music internships.
The Virginia Film Festival's Internship Program offers current U.Va. students with an interest in arts administration, film and entertainment industry an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in planning and implementing our four-day film festival. Internships are available each Fall semester in the following areas: Adrenaline Film Project, Development, Director's Assistant, Graphic Design, Operations, Production, Publicity and Marketing, Copywriting as well as Student and Community Outreach. Students will receive academic credit for their part-time work and should apply to the program by sending a cover letter and resume to the Festival's Managing Director, Jenny Mays.
