Fundamental questions of how cells function within tissues, interact with their environments, avoid pathogens and become diseased are addressed using genetic, cellular, biochemical, structural, bioinformatic and high-throughput functional genomic approaches. Close collaborations with faculty in the Schools of Medicine and Engineering emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to integrate discoveries in biology with development of new therapeutics and applications.
