Requirements
for the Biology Minor
Students
selecting biology as their minor subject are required to complete
the lower-level introductory courses, BIOL 201, 202, 203 and
204, unless exempted by examination or placement. Students
exempted from BIOL 201 and 202 must take BIOL 203 and 204
unless they have completed laboratory courses equivalent
to BIOL 203 and 204.
In
addition, three upper-level three-hour courses in the Biology
Department (300 and above) are required. Only three credit
hours in either BIOL 385, 386, 395, or 491-498
may be submitted toward the three upper-level (300 or above)
biology courses of three credits each required for the Biology
minor. Courses offered by the Department of Environmental
Sciences and CHEM 441 and 442, which may be applied to the
Biology major, cannot be applied toward the Biology
minor. Also, keep in mind the college rule: Credits at or
above the 300-level applied toward a minor may not also count
toward completion of a major.
Finally,
the grade point average for all courses (300 and above) presented
for the minor must be 2.0 (C) or better.
