Stop 8: The Ginkgo Grove

The Ginkgo Grove

The first director of Blandy Experimental Farm, Orland E. White, planted a grove of more than 350 ginkgo trees (Ginkgo biloba) to determine the ratio of male to female trees.

The results indicate the ratio is statistically evenly split between male and female trees.

Dr. White's experiment left a living legacy, though, as the grove explodes into a cheerful bright yellow color every fall.
