CHANCELLOR'S REMARKS

B.
IMPROVING K-12 MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY -- The College
is providing outreach programs throughout Southwest Virginia.
One of these, offered in conjunction with the Southwest Virginia
Higher Education Center and the Southwest Virginia Public
Education Consortium, is K-12 in-service and pre-service training
in the use of technology to enhance math and science abilities.

DUAL ADMISSIONS AGREEMENT -- As part of restructuring, the
College has made a commitment to improve articulation for
transfer students, which is to say, improve the transition
of students matriculating from the Community College System.
There will be a discussion of the recently developed dual
admissions agreement with Mountain Empire Community College.

D.
STUDENT SATISFACTORY INVENTORY -- A Student Satisfaction Inventory
(fall 1996) assessed the level of student satisfaction in
academics, student life, financial aid, and other areas. The
survey results will be discussed, along with the surveys implication
for strategic planning.

E.
DEVELOPMENT UPDATE -- This report will be an update on Clinch
Valley Colleges annual and capital campaigns.
