ACTION ITEM
- RADIO
STATION -- In September 1997, Clinch Valley College was awarded
a grant by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration
(NTIA) to help construct a public radio station. The Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) awarded a construction permit in October 1997.
The Chancellor will discuss the implications of accepting the
NTIA grant and the FCC construction permit. The Board will be
asked to approve acceptance of the permit and construction of
the station.

REPORTS BY THE CHANCELLOR OF CLINCH VALLEY COLLEGE
- A.
CHANCELLOR'S REMARKS -- The Chancellor will report on issues
of interest to the Committee.
- B.
LEGISLATIVE AMENDMENTS -- The Chancellor will review the
legislative amendments that Clinch Valley College has submitted
to the General Assembly at the 1998 session.
- C.
CROCKETT HALL -- Crockett Hall, a residence hall that is
the campus’s signature building, must close soon for renovation.
A lay committee has studied possible future uses for Crockett
Hall. The Chancellor will present the committee’s recommendation.
- D.
PROGRAM REVIEW -- Clinch Valley College has instituted
a formal program review policy in which each academic department
will be reviewed every five years. The Chancellor will lead a
discussion of the program review policy and provide an introduction
to the department of history and philosophy, which was reviewed
in the fall of 1997.
