CONFLICT OF INTEREST EXEMPTION - Proposes that the School of Medicines Office of Continuing Medical Education enter into an agreement with a local, privately-owned software business, CardioConcepts, Inc., for the licensing of the software application, "Cardiovascular Cybervillage". Approval by the Board of Visitors is requested for exemption from the Virginia Conflict of Interests Act in order to allow an agreement to be made between the two University faculty members who are private owners of CardioConcepts, Inc. and the University of Virginia.
REPORTS BY THE VICE PRESIDENT AND PROVOST FOR HEALTH SCIENCES
A. UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA MEDICAL CENTER FINANCIAL REPORT (as of September 30, 1998) - Mr. Carter, the new Health Sciences Center Senior Vice President for Operations, will report on the Medical Centers first quarter financial results (July 1 - September 30, 1998).B. VICE PRESIDENT'S REMARKS - Dr. Cantrell will highlight events in the Health Sciences Center since the last meeting of the Committee to include recognition of the University of Virginia as one of the nations top 15 major teaching hospitals. Dr. Cantrell will report on the $10.5 million grant from the Whitaker Foundation, financial trends through December 1998, and challenges faced in the coming year.
