Welcome to Brown College on Monroe Hill
Brown College is a residential community of approximately 300 undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Brown's 300 residents enjoy a friendly, intellectually stimulating, and socially accepting academic community that is closely tied to U. Va. faculty by Brown's Faculty Fellows and is self-governed by Brown's Governance Board, a committee of approximately 30 Brown residents that makes decisions, organizes events, and disburses funds to enrich life in Brown. Membership in Brown is by application and determined by reading groups of current Brown residents who read and rank applications submitted by prospective residents on a semesterly basis. If you are interested in living within Brown as a first year undergraduate student, an upperclass student, or as a transfer student, we encourage you to visit Brown's membership page.
