Suggestions for building a successful APPLE "prevention team":
  • Recruit a diverse group of student athletes. For example, two students from the same team will represent their team well, but are they representative of your athletics department?

  • If you are the coach, think about branching out and recruiting student athletes who are not members your particular sport/team.

  • When choosing your student athletes, you will want to have a balance of "history" and new ideas. Older student athletes will provide a different perspective than first year student athletes. As team contact, you'll want to make sure there are students who will be at your institution to help implement your program or policy.
