Cavalier Advantage Refund Information

If you have a balance of $20.00 or more in your Cavalier Advantage account at the time of graduation, you have 60 days after graduation to request a refund in writing. Refund requests are accepted by:

When writing your request, please provide your name, student ID number, and a current mailing address. A $10.00 processing fee is assessed for all refunds and will be deducted from your available balance.

The refund may take the form of a check, electronic transfer to a bank account that was previously set up for Direct Deposit from the University, or a credit to a Visa or Mastercard, depending on the way your last deposit was made.

If you have a younger sibling at the University, you may request that your remaining Cavalier Advantage funds be transferred to your sibling's account. Simply e-mail the request to cavadv@virginia.edu and include your name, your sibling's name, and both student ID numbers.

If you plan to stay in the Charlottesville area and would like to continue using Cavalier Advantage around Grounds, you may purchase a Cavalier Advantage card from one of the seven cash deposit machines located in various libraries around Grounds. If you still have a balance on your student ID, we can transfer funds from your ID card to the Cavalier Advantage card. Just call the Cavalier Advantage Office with your student ID number and the Cavalier Advantage card number and we will be happy to process a transfer.

Please note that your student ID card and Cavalier Advantage account can no longer be used to access University services after graduation.
