After growing up in London, I decided to take the trip across the pond to study in the US and am now a second year student in the College of Arts and Sciences. I plan on double majoring in Global Development Studies and East Asian Studies. My mother is Singaporean and my father is half French and half American, so I have always been interested in how people define their identity as national citizens. I am studying Mandarin and spent the past summer in Shanghai. In particular, I am interested Chinese nationalist sentiment, attitudes toward government policies such as the One Child Policy and perceptions of the environmental impact of Chinese economic development.
