Abstract Filiform and pitting corrosion are being investigated in order to determine features that can be used in statistical analyses and probabilistic modeling methods for initiation and growth prediction. Current methods of corrosion prediction range from deterministic algorithms to empirical models along with combinations of both. We are developing new empirical models based on state-of-the-art statistical analyses and probabilistic modeling tools. This method will not only capture spatial and temporal structure but will also include features that may affect corrosion such as inclusion locations. PUBLICATIONS
