Dr. Giovanni Zangari joined CESE September
2002 as an associate professor in the Department of Materials Science
and Engineering. He received his M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from
the Politecnico di Milano and his Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering
from the Politecnico di Torino (Italy). He was an assistant professor
in the Center for Materials for Information Technology (MINT) at
the University of Alabama. He has been a visiting research associate
in the Forschungsinstitut fuer Edelmetalle und Metallchemie (Research
Institute for the Precious Metals and Chemical Metallurgy) in Schwaebisch
Gmuend, Germany, and a postdoctoral research associate in the Data
Storage Systems of Carnegie Mellon University. His research includes
the electrodeposition of metals and alloys for applications in magnetic
recording and microelectronics and developing methods for the investigation
and control of nucleation and growth processes in thin films. He
has co-authored more than 20 technical papers and several contributions
to books.
