About the Child Development Centers
The University of Virginia Child Development Center was established in 1991 to serve University faculty, staff, and students. The Center was transitioned into a center for Two Year Olds thru Prekindergarten August 2011.
The Center is conveniently located one block north of University Hall, on 180 Copeley Road. The hours are 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Except certain holidays. (See Holiday Closing Schedule.) The phone number is 434-293-6110.
The University of Virginia Child Development Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Center earned this designation by having a lower child and teacher ratio, offering an outstanding program, and hiring the finest staff. Our unique observation rooms give parents or visitors the opportunity to observe the classroom through a one-way glass.
The University of Virginia Infant and Toddler Child Development Center located at 408 Earhart Street was established August 2011. This Center will become NAEYC accredited in the near future. The hours are 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Except certain holidays. (See Holiday Closing Schedule.) The phone number is 434-977-3973.
Both Centers accept children of University faculty, staff, and students as well as employees of the hospital, University-affiliated foundations and contractors.
Nutritious snacks and meals are served "family style". Our buildings are free of any type of nut products. We accommodate a wide range of allergies and food sensitivities. The Centers qualify as "Eco-Healthy" facilities which ensures a safe place for children. Eco-Healthy child care centers commit to reducing a child's exposure to toxic's and other environmental health hazards.
Both Centers, managed by Childrens' Creative Learning Centers (CCLC), offer children unique, educational programs designed around their developmental levels and interests. All programs are available full time. Founded in 1992, CCLC is a national child care provider dedicated to quality employer sponsored early childhood education. We offer our clients the combination of experience, strength in the industry and dedication to developing quality and innovative family focused programs.
