About the Child Development Centers

The University of Virginia Child Development Center was established in 1991 for infant to prekindergarten. The Center was transitioned into a center for two year olds thru prekindergarten in August 2011. It is located on 180 Copeley Road. The hours are 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Except certain holidays. (See Holiday Closing Schedule.) The phone number is 434-293-6110. The University of Virginia Child Development Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Center earned this designation by having a lower child and teacher ratio, offering an outstanding program, and hiring the finest staff.

The University of Virginia Infant and Toddler Child Development Center was established in August 2011. It is located on 408 Earhart Street.  The hours are 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Except certain holidays. (See Holiday Closing Schedule.) The phone number is 434-977-3973. The University of Virginia Infant and Toddler Child Development Center is in the process of becoming NAEYC accredited.

Both Centers accept children of University faculty, staff, and students as well as employees of the hospital, University-affiliated foundations and contractors.

Managed by Childrens' Creative Learning Centers (CCLC), a division of Knowledge Universe, each Center offers children unique, educational programs designed around their developmental levels and interests. All programs are available full time. Founded in 1992, CCLC is a national child care provider dedicated to quality employer sponsored early childhood education. We offer our clients the combination of experience, strength in the industry and dedication to developing quality and innovative family focused programs.

Nutritious snacks and meals are served "family style". Our buildings are free of any type of nut products. We accommodate a wide range of allergies and food sensitivities. The Centers qualify as "Eco-Healthy" facilities which ensures a safe place for children. Eco-Healthy child care centers commit to reducing a child's exposure to toxic's and other environmental health hazards.
