Dear Fellow Educator:
The teacher whose name is listed below is applying for a summer seminar that is being offered by the Center for the Liberal Arts at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and funded by the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations. Participants in our summer program will learn valuable information, which can later be shared with their own students. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive 3 graduate credits. Lodging, meals and tests – a value of approximately $1,033 will be provided free of charge for the teachers selected to participate.
Our expectation, one that makes the program truly collaborative, is that school divisions will pay the tuition for their teachers. CLA's goal is to provide high-quality programs in Arts and Sciences without cost to teachers; your contribution of tuition expenses would help us realize that goal. If you are able to pay full or partial tuition for this applicant from your division, please fill out the form below and return this sheet to your teacher for inclusion in his/her application packet. Preference will be given to those teachers supported by their school systems.
Sincerely,
Bonnie Hagerman
Interim Director, Center for the Liberal Arts
