The Department of Classics offers a Latin placement exam during each of the summer orientation sessions for entering students; this exam is also offered during the first week of classes of the Fall semester. It is not available at any other times.

The Department, following University guidelines, awards 3-6 units of credit at the 300 level to students who score a 4 or a 5 on the Latin AP exam(s). For IB students, a score of 5, 6, or 7 earns 3 credits for Latin 202.
