South Lawn Project Update: September 28, 2007

Workers have begun demolishing an empty structure at 503 Brandon Avenue. They are using a loader and excavator and watering debris to minimize dust during the process, which is expected to last three days. Following the building’s demolition, the foundation hole will be filled with structural dirt.

The work area is fenced to help protect pedestrians and motorists.

The site, located next to an empty lot and the parking lot adjacent to Bice House, will be used in the short-term as a lay-down area for construction materials for U.Va.’s South Lawn Project. Eventually the area will become a parking lot in support of nearby academic and cultural activities.
