Neighborhoods Advisory Group Meetings
On Monday, Sept. 21, Community Relations hosted the University of Virginia’s Fall Neighborhoods Advisory Group Meeting. Held during fall and spring semesters, the meetings give area residents and local leaders opportunities to learn about University programs and events as well as significant construction projects.
David Neuman, Architect for the University, kicked off the meeting by sharing information about current and planned University and Health System building projects. Among the projects he presented were U.Va.’s Rehearsal Hall, which is planned along Culbreth Road; the expansion of the University Bookstore at the Central Grounds Parking Garage on Emmet Street; and the expected early completion of the current phase of the South Lawn Project, along Jefferson Park Avenue.
Marge Sidebottom, director of the University’s Office of Emergency Preparedness, outlined the steps being taken to educate employees and students about H1N1. She explained that flu vaccines will be administered to U.Va. students beginning in November.
Rebecca White, director of U.Va.’s Parking and Transportation Department, shared travel and parking information related to the Oct. 1 7 p.m. U2 concert at Scott Stadium. For details on the concert, traffic flow and parking, click here.
