Downloading files
Downloading .WK1 files
Many of our statistical files are in Excel .wk1 format which was originally
done to be compatible with users with Lotus 1-2-3. For many Netscape
Browsers, it is necessary to set the preferences to open files with the
.wk1 suffix. To do this you will need to do the following:
In Netscape:
Go to the Edit menu to Preferences
A dialog box will appear with a Category list to the left and Applications
list to the right.
Under the Navigator section, click on Application
Then Scroll through the list of Applications until you find the Excel Application
(It should say: application/x-excel,
click on this to highlight it)
Click on the Edit button
A dialog box will appear and you will see a place to edit Suffixes
Put in the suffixes box .wk1
Save the settings and try to download again
