Embracing Diversity through Creativity, Culture and
Innovation
The University of Virginia will send up to five undergraduate students
from various disciplines to this two-week program, covering most expenses.
In addition, successful participants will earn three course credits in
COM 380, "Business, Government
and Society." If you are a rising second, third- or fourth-year student
with an interest in creativity, culture and innovation, enjoy meeting bright
and interesting people from other countries, and/or just want to spend two weeks
living and learning in Britain while improving your personal skill set, this
might be the opportunity you’ve been looking for!

Present your research at the Universitas 21 Undergraduate
Research Conference at the National University of Singapore, June 30
through July 4. Several students will represent the University of Virginia
at this international conference, with travel and accommodations covered.
The conference’s theme is sustainability; participants are encouraged
to interpret this theme broadly through a variety of perspectives (e.g.,
cultural, economic, environmental). Interested students should submit
a 150- to 200-word abstract to the Center for Undergraduate Excellence
by March 24 or by email to lsr2n@virginia.edu; some students will be
asked to make a brief presentation on March 27 or March 28. For more

Undergraduate students are invited to participate in the 6th Annual Virginia Tech Undergraduate Research and Prospective Graduate Student Conference on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, in the Squires Student Center. Sponsored by the Center for Academic Enrichment and Excellence and the Graduate School, the conference offers a professional forum for undergraduates from Virginia Tech and other schools to showcase their involvement in research and creative scholarship and gain essential information relevant to their pursuit of graduate study. The 2008 conference will consist of oral and poster presentations given by undergraduates from Virginia Tech and other institutions, and information sessions on topics related to graduate education and preparation. There is no registration fee for the conference; however, space is limited so students are encouraged to register early. The 3rd annual undergraduate research conference of ACC schools encourages participation by undergraduate students from all research areas, including visual and performing arts. To apply to be a U.Va. representative, please e-mail Lucy Russell (lsr2n@virginia.edu) an abstract of your work and resume with contact information. Some applicants will be invited to give a 15 minute presentation on February 12. Students chosen to represent U.Va. will be notified on February 14.

The second annual Undergraduate Research Conference of the University of Virginia will be held April 18, 2008. Abstracts for oral or poster presentations may be submitted starting January 14, 2008, and continuing until February 20. A selection committee will review the abstracts and will notify those that are accepted for presentation. Students who are not presenting, parents, and faculty are also encouraged to attend.
