Why did you decide to pursue a Rhodes Scholarship?
There are three main reasons I took a chance and applied for the scholarship. First, it is a very prestigious community to join, and I had always held Rhodes Scholars in a certain esteem. Second, it is really exciting way to study in Europe after being an undergraduate. England is simply incredible, and we are so close to London that I can travel at least once a term. I spent a week in Spain at the start of this term, and I will be in Rome in two weeks. Finally, and most importantly, it brought me to Oxford, which is one of the best places in the world to study Philosophy. I have learned so much since arriving, and I certainly feel that UVa prepared me to come into a world-class graduate program.
What do you plan to pursue after completing your masters degree at Oxford?
I will return to the United States to finish my PhD in Philosophy, likely with a concentration in metaphysics and epistemology. Then I will hopefully go on to teach and conduct research as a professional philosopher.
