Howard Hughes Medical Institute Janelia Undergraduate Scholars Research Program

HHMI gives undergraduates an opportunity to spend 10 weeks during the summer doing research as an intern in the lab of a mentor at Janelia Farm, located in Ashburn, Virginia. The scholars are encouraged to attend weekly seminars and other events at Janelia. At the end of the session scholars will present their work at a symposium.
Eligibility
Any matriculated undergraduate may apply.
Term
June to August. Students are required to spend a full 10 weeks at Janelia. Start and end dates can be flexible to accommodate different universities' academic calendars.
Support
There is an allowance of $4,500 for the 10-week period. Accommodations are provided at the Janelia housing village. The program also supports the most economical travel to and from Janelia.
Application Process
Students must apply via the web-based application system. Candidates must supply academic data, resumes, and name two individuals to supply letters of reference. Candidates are asked to specify the lab head they want to do research with at Janelia and also propose a project.
