Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award
Website: http://www.jkcf.org/scholarships/graduate-scholarships/graduate-arts-award/ Deadline: 2012-11-28 (National) The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation's Graduate Arts Award enables students or recent alumni with exceptional artistic or creative promise and significant financial need to pursue up to three years of study at an accredited graduate institution in the US or abroad. Awards can be as much as $50,000 annually. In 2013, the Foundation will select up to 15 recipients for this award in the visual arts, performing arts, and creative writing. All scholarship nominees must plan to begin their first graduate degree program on a full-time basis at an accredited university in the fall of 2013. Recipients are chosen from a national pool.
Eligibility
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: (1) Senior standing or have graduated from an accredited four-year US college or university within the past five years; (2) A cumulative undergraduate grade-point average of 3.20 or better on a scale of 4.0 (or the equivalent); (3) Demonstrated unmet financial need; (4) A bachelor’s degree by the start of the fall 2013 semester; (5) Plans to begin first graduate degree program at an accredited college or university in the fall of 2013. While the Foundation considers artistic and creative merit first in evaluating candidates, competitive applicants must also demonstrate unmet financial need, which has two components: (1) Education costs that are appreciably greater than the total amount of other scholarships or grant awards. (2) Insufficient student and family income to meet educational costs.

Application Process
Students interested in applying for this scholarship MUST complete a phase one application by November 28, 2012; this includes a portfolio and financial information. The application is available at the above web site. If you are selected by the Foundation for phase two, you then must apply to be nominated by UVA. UVA may nominate up to 2 candidates. The UVA deadline for consideration of applicants who have progressed to phase two is January 25, 2013.
